If you’re looking to have your linear amplifier repaired, restored or just given the once over, Scott “The Amp Repair Guy” is the person to choose.
Scott is very knowledgeable, thorough, precise and well organized and explained clearly what was needed and gave me options to get the job done properly.
Scott also made sure that my amplifier was packed properly and securely for its return trip back to me.
I have recommended “The Amp Repair Guy” to the members of my club and would definitely use him again.
Thank you Scott for a job well done!

Simply exceptional. There is no other way to describe Scott's competency, quality of work, and interaction. I acquired a Kenwood TL-922a that had been off the air for a number of years and after a little looking over and tinkering decided I'd rather have someone who worked on these amplifiers everyday bring it up to date and to make sure everything was in good order before putting it back into service. After a lot of looking around Amp Repair Guy looked like the right place to trust with my vintage amplifier. A short conversation with Scott before sending my amp to him cleared up any and all doubts. This guy knows what he's doing and isn't a "golden screwdriver" just trying to "peak" everything out.
Things went just as expected with the repairs and upgrades. After only a few days time Scott sent my amplifier back to me.
Disaster Struck!
The carrier played kick ball with my amplifier (broken side panel and dented rear cover despite very good packaging) on the way back to me, but everything seemed physically ok inside the amp. I called Scott and he proceeded to spend the next several hours with me on the phone checking everything out. I'm pretty handy with older equipment like this, but it would of taken me days to accomplish what we did in that time on my own. The net result being I had a working amplifier at the end of the call and had only one person I'd ever trust with this kind of work going forward.
Thanks Scott!

REVIEW – Amp Repair Guy
Amp Repair, LLC
It has been a difficult road to find an amplifier repair person – until now! Soon I will be shipping my 3rd amplifier for repair to “Amp Repair Guy” without concern, knowing that it will be repaired and operating as new. The previous 2 repairs were completed and returned within a 3-week turnaround.
I received telephone calls from Scott outlining the necessary repairs with an estimate and time frame if parts had to be ordered. Additionally, if modifications were recommended by the manufacturers, he would advise accordingly and wait for a go- or no-go decision before proceeding. His recommendations should be seriously considered.
He bench-tests repairs for 24 hours prior to release of the product and needless to say his work is impeccable, he is conscientious, professional and has a wealth of knowledge in his field. He is NOT the new guy in town….he IS the guy in town for amplifier repairs.

I recently sent Scott a Drake L7 and after an inspection and well explained options we decided it was not worth the expense even if we could find all the parts. So I purchased a Kenwood 922 and sent it to Scott for inspection and mods. You will receive many calls and text from Scott as work progresses on your amp
Everything is explained before hand and you realize Scott knows what makes your amp the best it can be. I received it back Friday packed in foam. I have all the mods he recommended plus the addition of 10 meters. I am very happy with his work and will use him in the feature. Tim KC4JY. Thanks again Scott.
Dear Scott,
After my Amp Supply HF amp did not work after sitting on the self for five years after moving to our new location I looked and called around but none of the hams in the area repaired tube radios any more.
I did a search on line and found the www.amprepairguy.com site. I looked it over and it seemed very professional and experienced. I called the listed number and the owner Scott Mitchell answered and from talking to Scott was very assured that he knew his stuff. He patiently explained all the details in getting my very heavy amp properly packed at FedEx.
After Scott received my amp and examined it thoroughly, he found that one of the tubes was not working and what other things needed to be repaired. Scott sent me the information to get a pair of matched tubes sent to him. He let me know when they came in and when the amp was repaired and what he did. He even sent me a YouTube video of the repairing. Scott took the amp and tubes to the FedEx store so I could talk to the worker there for the exact price to pay over the phone for shipping back to me. The amp and tubes were shipped in separate boxes for safety sent them to him also.
When I go it back, I carefully hooked it up but no power came out. Talking to Scott and examining the boxes that the amp and tubes were shipped backed showed no damage. Scott asked me to take off the top cover of the amp and take photos of every angle of the insides and sent it to him. He was convinced that it had to be something simple that happened coming back. I was nervous about what damage occurred and the cost of sending it back and further repairs. Scott called me back quickly after looking at the photos and saw the problem. A wire that was soldered too taut without enough slack from the original factory broke off. He patiently guided me on what needed to be done.
I got an older ham friend of mine to come over to help me solder it back. I carefully took out the one tube in front of it to allow more room to work at it. It was a relatively easy solder job. We put the tube back in and got it back on my ham shelf and hooked up. Carefully tuning first into a dummy load and it work well. Switched to my 80-10 meter off center dipole and tuning for maximum output, I was back on the air, as I needed an amp in my area to get above the noise levels. Atmospheric conditions will hopefully get better soon with a lot more sun spots for easier dxing with simple antennas.
If you need a tube amp repaired, you will not get better work done then with the amp repair guy.
Scott is so patient, helpful and professional. Thank you again, Scott!

Just a note to fellow Amateurs in need of Amplifier repair. Fortunately, Scott is the gold standard. He took a very sick Ameritron 80-B amp and rebuilt it. Amazingly FAST turn around. This Amp had missing cabinet hardware. One can tell when a tech takes extra ordinary care with your equipment. I strongly recommend him for your repairs.

I received service for my L4b from Scott, excellent service, good price and minimum time for repair. I recommend Scott for amplified repair. Thanks Scott for your service on my L4B. Cesar KF2R
I have been a ham for over 40 years and during that time I have used a number of different repair services, some good, and some not so. I can honestly say that Scott's amp repair service is the best that I have come across bar none. Scott shows exceptional attention to detail and returns your amp in top-notch condition. He not only fixes the problems with your amplifier, but he also uses his expertise to fix areas that might cause trouble in the future. He keeps you informed along the way and the turnaround time is exceptional....no waiting around for weeks on end while you are off the air. If you are looking for the best service, Scott is your guy! Had a major issue with my recently purchased Ameritron 811 and sent it to Scott for a checkout. Scott sent me several videos explaining the almost total damage the amp had suffered and how it was rigged as a CBers amp. The cost to replace everything would be prohibitive. Scott mentioned a Ameritron 811-H he had was planning to use for parts that would be cheaper and a more powerful amp. After a week on ordering parts, Scott had the new amp ready to go with several videos showing the amp in action on my band of choice. Two days later the amp arrived. Nothing but praise for Scott and his businesses amprepairguy.com. Scott will send multiple videos before during and after the process so you are in the loop the entire time it is being repaired. Mentioned to Scott the first night on SSB I received a 59 and “strong signal” from an op in South Africa that I could never reach before running barefoot. Couldn’t recommend Scott and amprepairguy.com more for your amp needs. Also check out his YouTube channel where he describes how he has repaired previous amps to understand the detail and technical attention he provided to his repairs. 73. Mike Parker - KB4S
I just had my Ameritron AL80b repaired by Amp Repair Guy (his name is Scott). My amplifier was a mess. Had a bad vernier, bad variable cap, bad input coil on 15/17, needed to be recapped and a new tube. Scott is awesome. Great to work with, honest, fair, and communicates with the customer. Highly recommend to work on any HF tube amp.
